"Cloak" iPad Case Product Review

Alright, alright: my first Quirky product review. Ahhh yes! The Cloak iPad Case. Sick design

Seriously peoples. This iPad Case was designed with care - extremely sleek - multifunctional. Perfect. Well almost. To date - there have been 5,275 Cloak products sold. If you look under the reviews, seven people mentioned their disappointing situations. Not bad if you think about it. 0.1% of all buyers reviewed it poorly. An extremely insignificant number.

Cloak iPad Case HERE!!!

The issue? Well, they mentioned a poorly made hinge. The "lower profile" stand was defective. So some parts in products aren't made well when mass assembled. End story. There will always be a few products that slip through the cracks and fall apart after a few months...It happens.

Overall, I give this product a HUGE THUMBS UP - extremely intelligent design, worth the price point. Please leave comments on this product, or a review if you happened to purchase it! Thanks!

Rendering of the "Pod" Chair Product

Here is a cool rendering of the pod chair. I liked this product, but I guess this product has too many manufacturing costs + shipping costs. Anyway, I rendered it through Photoshop and threw it in a submission category on another site.

PROFILE PAGE CHANGE!!!! What do you suggest?!?!? (THREAD)

Where "PRODUCTS IN DEVELOPMENT" shows under your profile page - there should be other TABS NEXT TO THIS INCLUDING: Activity, Threads, & Submissions

It would be super cool to be on someone's profile page and be able to see their recent activity, threads they have started, and MOST IMPORTANTLY THEIR SUBMISSIONS.

Garage Product

Alright folks, I was so disgruntled about the BB&B Product that I didn't get anything together for the Garage Product. Nonetheless, I realized this and jumped on an idea at the last minute. Needless to say, my product doesn't have any images to support the concept. It's simple. And it supports the current Quirky character products. An add-on.

HERE IS THE LINK: http://www.quirky.com/ideations/55997

"Need a vantage point when stopping your car? People currently use tennis balls on strings. Let's spice it up a bit!

Problem: stopping a car in a garage. Not running your car into the wall.
Current solution: tennis balls on strings & laser beams.
MY SOLUTION: a character ball on an elastic string with magnetic arms that stretch out to a magnet attaches with velcro to the rear view mirror. It's fun it's spunky and it solves the well known problem.
Imagine Quirky's character tripod keychains yet as a car garage stop product. An add-on to that character sketch. Unfortunately I don't have any images this week due to lack of time.

Key Features:
  • Magnetic Arms & Professional Look
  • Character Feature
Comparisons:
  • Homemade Tennis Ball on a string
  • Laser beams"

Now, the concept was a garage product for "utilizing, dividing, and manipulating space in your garage." Instantly, you could say - does your product do any of those things? And the answer is - well, sorta. It definitely utilizes space by hanging from the ceiling and manipulates the way you drive your car into your garage. Hahaha - wow - did I just twist that or what!?!

But yea - the idea solves a real life problem - avoid crashing into your garage wall and the product is fun while doing it! Go check out the Quirky character products - they are doing well! In fact, here are the links - go see for yourself!

DigiDudes

Cable Caps

Crafty Caps

Quirky Character Products are smart. Obviously, you don't want to overcrowd your product line with character products. Nevertheless, this product would fit in quite well! Best of luck and I realize in advanced, this product doesn't really fit the criteria...NEXT WEEK - Kitchen Sink Product - Woah - I will blow your mind! The DMV fits well & the concept is there! Hahaha...See ya guys...

Final Product Decision, Dun Dun Dun...

BB&B Decision is over - the finalists were picked. And of course, the top scores WEREN'T EVEN MENTIONED. Great, thanks. Wonderful. I definitely understand why my product wasn't picked

1. Manufacturing Costs
2. Shipping Costs
3. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

I will take these issues to heart for future ideations. Nonetheless, why weren't the top scores even mentioned in the video> > > PRETTY LAME. End story. Here are the winners, below:

Clothes Drying Rack/Folding Hanger; Leanne Luce
Alright, if you were gonna go with a drying rack, freakin go with the double-towel rack (http://www.quirky.com/ideations/55326). Now, I don't know if there's a patent on that idea but it was 500x better than this beast. Who needs a drying rack? College students use dryers - fold their laundry there - and bring it back ready to put in drawers. Maybe chicks would use them, I'm not sure. Definitely marketable - sellable. Ehh, maybe it's not as bad as I am making it out to be. Yea, this one is chill - the more I write about it the better it becomes...Hahaha. Cool. Alright fine. Pick this one. Im cool with it...

"Private Alarm;" Paula Dorfman

I'm pretty sure someone else had this idea up, too. In fact, I'm 90% positive someone else had this exact idea - so how do you choose one over the other? They were both pillow alarm clocks. I will have to find the link and get back to you guys on this...anyway, I have seen this killer alarm clock that vibrates your pillow when there are waves. It's for surfers - it's pretty sick. I'm surprised there aren't comparable products in the market place. Never did any research on this one. Pretty cool, marketable, yes. If it connects to your ipod/iphone/mp3 player then it would be killer. Definitely has a ton of potential. I'd pick this if the research says yes.

Pivoting & Moveable Desk; Fred Zaw
Sweet renderings, I'm not gonna lie, nonetheless, not that cool. Honestly, it's pretty cheesy, like easy mac. College students use their desk. End story. Not a whack add-on feature...

Product #1 - Evaluation Process

Here is a pic of the 2-in-1 chair. This product is a gaming chair (or ground chair or stool or foot stool) + a swivel stool. Basically the gaming chair detaches from the swivel stool to create two chairs in one. The concept is to save space, while having the ability to provide multiple seating arrangements. This product solves a problem of dorm room real estate. It has a competitive advantage over other office chairs by converting into two chairs, specifically a gaming chair; in addition, the sleek features are attractive to the college crowd. Tell me what you think! Comment below! Thanks!

P.S. We were supposed to hear the finalists yesterday, but Quirky had to consult with BB&B to determine the winners. I will post back when I find out the conclusion. The post before this one has the link to the product page. Please refer to the link for comments, ratings, & votes & MORE!

First Quirky Product!!!

What's up guys?!?! My first Quirky Product is up for votes! Check it out, here is the link:
Quirky "Detachable-Pod" Desk Chair

Anyway, I am loving Quirky! It's so much fun - commenting, rating, voting - deciding which products should squeeze through - it really helps develop creativity. This community forces bad concepts down the drain and encourages great ideas. Through this process you gain a bigger perspective and understand what the market sentiment truly is - including those outside the target audience.

Can't wait to see what happens! This is just the beginning...
